Welcome to LGIR RealOps / Overload 2010.

Heraklion International Airport, or Nikos Kazantzakis Airport is located about 5 km east of the capital of Crete, Heraklion. The airport is named after Heraklion native Nikos Kazantzakis, a Greek writer and philosopher. Heraklion airport is the second busiest Greek airport in terms of total (approx. 5 million) as well as foreign (approx. 4 million) passengers, mostly due to the fact that Crete is a major destination for tourists during summer. A typical 6-hour rush-hour period in this (mostly) single-runway airport has 90-100 movements, as well as a lot of non-scheduled GA and military traffic.
This event aims to simulate the real traffic of LGIR that took place during the 6-hour period of 1400-2000Z on the 22th August 2010. Real-life pilot and ATC operations will be in place, with briefings composed by participating real Greek ATCOs. Expect full coverage of the airport and its surroundings and the usual Greek ATC quality. Heraklion awaits you!!!
For bookings go to HvACC events page.
