Aircraft Briefing - Carenado C550

Post by OAL269 Kyprianos Biris »

Cessna S550 Citation II
FSX/P3D

ICAO Code: C550

By CARENADO
http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/ ... correl=142
NAVIGRAPH extension pack (at extra cost) NOT NEEDED if adding JANEK's ISG Mod.
http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/ ... correl=144

JANEK ISG Modification
This retrofit adding ISG FMS removes Carenado FMS and adds IGS FMC plus many features Carenado did not include.
Full FMS operation, performance data cards indicating current aircraft weight, Vspeeds call outs, Checklists in MFD, Correct Autopilot modes, clickspots for 2D pop ups and much more.
With this update the aircraft handles very well and most importantly you have proper LNAV/VNAV + conventional NAV modes in operation without depending on FS GPS integration.
ISG FMS routes can be exported and used from VROUTE (Premium) from "Quality Wings 757" export menu selection. They are compatible with the QW757 format since its the same developer.
Modification by JANEK Forum user: http://forum.avsim.net/user/315056-janekbln/ , Email: JanekBln@web.de
Forum post about it where you can see the development up to (current) version 1.7.

PROCEDURE:
1) Buy and install ISG package in FSX/P3D
http://www.isgsim.com/
2) DOWNLOAD the file from here
ISG MOD 1.7.zip
Very easy copy-paste type of installation, just follow his instructions.

Needed tweaks:
- JANEK's ISG integration (above)
- Thrust Scalar mod.
Very important because otherwise aircraft ends climb at FL280~290
Change the following in
--> aircraft.cfg
[jet_engine]
thrust_scalar= 1.15
Forum post about it. This thrust increase makes the aircraft more powerful (than it should) in lower levels up to ~FL250 but make it climb up to FL410+ without problems

Performance in FS:
Cruise FL400~430 - 400~420Kts TAS (Mach 0,65) - IFR Range 1.700nm
Average Fuel consumption (Short 200~250nm flights): 580 Kg/Hr
Average Fuel consumption: 490 Kg/Hr
Low-Medium-High weights, ISA, Sea Level: Take Off Distance 790-920-1052m

Basic Handling data for FS model:
TKOFF
95% N1 - Flaps: 2
Vr 110~120 Kts IAS
CLIMB
90% N1 low levels - 100%N1+ FL300+
250Kts -> 280Kts IAS above FL100 with IAS pitch mode (Vne 280 Kts IAS - Mach 0,7) -> then maintain less then Mach 0,7 with VSI pitch mode changes
CRUISE
maintain less than Mach 0,8
DESCENT
maintain less than Mach 0,7 / 280 Kts IAS
APPROACH/LAND
Vref 90-105 Kts IAS depending on weight - Flaps: Full

Support forum:
http://forum.avsim.net/forum/730-s550-c ... ii-fsxp3d/

Reported Bugs:
http://forum.avsim.net/topic/459970-cit ... ?p=3164010
Most of the above fixed or bypassed by JANEK mod.
TCAS incompatible for on line flying (does not display traffic) - Pending Fix (Post1) (Post2).

Simulation details:
[If without JANEK mod.] Basic FMS (with Navigraph AIRAC update). No saving/importing of routes, works like default FSX GPS. Able to enter DTO FIX. No (usable) VNAV.
Excellent visuals.
Excellent TAWS terrain in MFD.
Basic weather radar in MFD
Pax/Fuel loading from FS menu.
Manual Throttles (no FADEC).
Autopilot VSI and IAS (no Mach) PITCH modes.

OAV Livery
For now an OAV livery generation is not possible since CARENADO do not provide a paint kit for their model.
Just use any of the available aircraft you like; OAV prefers the great looking grey-white color reg. G-XFHU.

User/Dealer modifications - Retrofits
- ISG FMS panel retrofit to avoid using Carenado FMS.
Forum post about it.
See top of this post for procedure.

- Flightt1 GTN650/750 integration by user BERT available.
